The Jump to Self Employment

Ever since my son was born 7 and half years ago I have wanted to be a work from home mom. A lot has changed since then. For a while I was a stay at home mom, but I can't just sit there watching my kid. I started an unlicensed daycare at the time. then moved to a small apartment and still kept watching a few kids for a few side bucks. while trying to figure out a way to make money as a stay at home mom.

I ended up leaving a bad situation and found a job working in a pizza place. then feeling that it would be best for my son that I get a "normal" job I got into medical billing. My hope was that I would get to work from home as all of my research had said that was an excellent work from home type of job. I loved what I did but it wasn't who I liked working for.

After the birth of my second child, I realized on maternity leave that I could pay less directly out of pocket for health insurance then my employee share was!!! I started freelancing on maternity and made the most I had ever made at that point online. That was my starting pointing for freelancing and being self employed. Once I returned to work things got really interesting. I did try for a couple of months to make it to a different team which was resulted in very negative results. I even tried for a promotion on the team I was on. That is when I started getting final warnings, I was getting the feeling I was out of that job whether I was fired or quit. That was the final push I needed.

I put in my two week notice and was asked to leave the following Monday, proving my thoughts to be correct. It was okay as I had formed my plan, it wasn't exactly what I wanted to do, but I knew it was a way to make money. I knew it would allow me the flexibility to be there for my kids and all of their appointments. I had already started working back at the pizza place and was making about my salary working just Saturdays and every other Fridays. I purposely choose those days as my kids are suppose to go to their dad's house for visitation with their dad.

That was about 6 months ago. Since then I have worked hard to get where I am. While I feel like I have accomplished so much. I want to achieve so much more. I want to get rid of the pizza place. I would love to free my free babysitters so that they can have their weekends free again. Plus I would love to actually use them to go out and be kid free for a few hours.
